Welcome.
This blog is an extension of the ideas explored in my book, Creda: Breaking Free from the Loyalty Trap. It is a place for reflections, observations, and conversations about loyalty, belief, belonging, identity, and the systems that shape our lives.
My name is C.H. Johnson. I am not a psychologist, researcher, or expert. I am simply someone who has spent many years trying to understand experiences that were difficult to name. Along the way, I noticed patterns that seemed to appear again and again across different groups, organizations, movements, and relationships.
Those observations eventually led me to create the term Creda.
Creda is my attempt to describe systems that use belief, loyalty, fear, identity, and belonging in ways that can limit autonomy and independent thought. While many people associate these patterns with cults, I believe they can appear in many places, including religious organizations, political movements, workplaces, online communities, social groups, and even everyday relationships.
This blog will explore those ideas from several angles.
- In Creda Concepts, I will discuss the core ideas behind the Creda framework, including loyalty traps, taproot beliefs, emotional control, and identity shaping.
- In Creda Lens, I will share reflections on documentaries, real world stories, historical events, and cultural movements through the lens of Creda.
- In Behind the Book, I will write about the journey of creating Creda, including the challenges, discoveries, and personal experiences that helped shape the book.
My goal is not to tell people what to believe. Instead, I hope to offer language, tools, and perspectives that encourage reflection and independent thinking.
Thank you for being here. I am glad you found your way to this space, and I look forward to exploring these ideas together.
— C.H. Johnson
